December has arrived

Yes, it’s the first of December and whilst John is painting ceilings pre-Christmas, I’m filling the freezer with soup, stews and all sorts of goodies. Today, I’m making butternut squash soup, which basically contains just roasted butternut, a little onion and almost no water! This afternoon I’m baking some mince pies as we have started taking a mid-afternoon treat with tea. I can’t find mince-pies here in France, so I make my own shortcrust pastry and fill them with Robertson’s mincemeat, which I can get here.

I’m thinking of starting an online Advent calendar, so watch this space for the next 24 days!
